Summary: Five teenage friends buy a cheap, used van and head out on a road trip to a rock concert. Loaded up with music, drugs and unhappy home lives, they sneak out and head out. On the way, they take a wrong turn, a creepy elderly man at a roadside business gives them a warning about their lifestyle choices and the area they’ve arrived in. Oh and that it’s too late to escape it all. One by one, they’ll meet evil itself!
Overall: Sounds ok, right? Nothing new really but not awful… Good…now let me tell you where the film was made: Pakistan. Do I have your attention now? Sure got mine when I received my copy in the mail. I had to get this film started from the moment I opened my envelope. Not many films out there from Pakistan, especially slasher films. It’s tough being in America too considering we aren’t always sure which countries are our buddies and which ones aren’t. Not too long ago, we were best buddies with Iran, until the Shah was overthrown. Then we helped out Saddam Hussein when he took on the new Iranian Regime. And we know how all it ended up. So frankly, I was salivating at getting a film from Pakistan. And I’m sure I’ve got my own stereotypes of Pakistani people…but I loved this film. The fact it’s from Pakistan, showing their cities, their culture, their people got me excited. It’s new, different and all that for an American like myself. Go get this film and enjoy it. It’s a decent film from a plot standpoint but it’s all this other stuff that makes it so darn watchable! Comparison: Evil meets Cabin Fever |
