Hellraiser 8: Hellworld (2005)

Summary: Adam’s death 2 years ago has still traumatized this group of 5 friends who have a chance to attend a secret “Hellworld” party. Seems they all loved to play this internet game few years back based on the “Hellraiser” movies and now they get the chance to do this in person. They end up at a lonely old house with lots of other strangers. But things aren’t as they appear and soon when the “real” Pinhead crashes this party, heads will roll.

Overall: Every time I wanted to try and enjoy this film, some new question popped into my head which showed the movie to be giant waste of money. The film is about fans of the movies…and now they are in one...depending on what parallel universe you are in. They attend this party and soon just these 5, not the other guests, are seeing things that they thought were only in the movies, or video games. Seriously, outside of exploiting the prior films as the gimmick, this film does nothing more than try and pull wool over our eyes pretending that Pinhead has a point to the film., Again, given what wonderful films the first 2 were...this film uses Pinhead more as a connection to prior films but having no true connection to why these people end up dying. We basically end up with “Friday the 13th Part 5.” (enough spoiler for ya)

It’s just sad that the Studio keeps paying director Rick Bota to absolutely bastardize and destroy the integrity of the series. Clive Barker is rolling over in his grave as I type…and he’s not even dead yet. Will part 9 involve bunch of people at a camp stalked by a killer who has the LeMarchand box? Maybe include someone with a machete who once watched the original “Hellraiser”? Sad!
