Hatchet (2007)

Summary: Ben and a friend join a few other tourists in a ghostly swamp tour of the New Orleans Bayou. Little do they know that they’re precisely going the right way...to their own deaths. It seems that there is a old ghost story of a deformed kid and his dad, and when things went wrong, people died. Now these swamp visitors will realize that not everything they find in a swamp is a protected species. Surviving this tour may mean killing everyone in sight!

Overall: This is a good film that spends some time to give us some background on our characters before we head full blown into...the gore! Trust me folks, there is a ton of gore, some bloody deaths and a lot of gruesomeness. And it works! The deaths here were not just imaginative but the effects held up making everything really sorta cool. Don’t expect cheese here. There’s some good stuff here and really, the effects were tremendous. They’re believable and just so expertly done. Outside of the outrageousness of the death scenes, the film has some pretty good dialogue. Took me awhile to get into it but halfway through everything really seemed to be working and kept the film quite fun and interesting. Definitely a film to get your hands on!!
