Summary: All over the world giant monsters are on the attack. The Earth Defense Force has created the :M Organization: an elite corps of mutants with superior fighting abilities, and they do what they can to stop the monsters. But then a UFO appears and causes all the monsters to disappear. UN Secretary General Daigo who had also been snatched by the aliens returns and announces that the Xilians are peaceful and want to unite all of Earth in a Space Nations (ala United Nations) to help fend off the planet Gorath, which is on a collision course with Earth. However the scientists realize that this is a ruse and eventually they unleash all the giant monsters to decimate the Earth. Humanity’s only hope is for Godzilla to take on the other monsters.
Overall: A very recent Godzilla film and you can tell things have gotten a bit more realistic in terms of the visuals for the viewer. My problem is, it’s like watching “Versus” or other Asian action flicks. Lots of motorcycles, slow-mo fights, etc. And the fighting with the monsters was sorta cheesy. We see some wrestling movies, MMA moves and frankly, it reminded me they were actors in suits. What was nice was the opening sequence with the old clips as well as seeing some of the old monsters resurrected for the film. Comparison: Godzilla (1998) meets Freddy vs. Jason |
