Brigette is back and can’t get rid of Ginger, nor does she want to. She’s trying to find a cure to the werewolf that was Ginger and so infects herself with Ginger’s blood then attempts to battle it with the monkshood serum. But nothing seems to work and she’s being pursued by a werewolf seeking a female mate. Brigette is unfortunately interred into a rehab clinic which makes her need for her drugs, that much more difficult. But will she survive her fight against becoming a werewolf or will she give in and accept her destiny?
Overall: What made the first film so good was its story and its uniqueness. The fact is, no one I’ve met or read from has an idea who the hell the male werewolf is...they all have theories but the film never explains it. That’s a major problem since it’s always something lurking in the back of your mind. Also, the title is “Ginger Snaps” as in the character of Ginger who I truly think if the title wasn’t so cool and catchy would have been excised from parts 2 & 3 if they thought they could get away from it. So in the end it calls out as a copycat of the “American Werewolf in London” films. It’s a slow film and doesn’t introduce anything too spectacular until...the end. Some people hate the ending but I love it. It leads you slowly to a conclusion which is fine but then springs the “trapdoor” shut and then you are gasping “Oh, no way.” Looking back, the entire movie could be worth the ending it built up to. As for the deleted scenes, not much new here since it focuses too much on Brigette and not enough on other characters. Bottom line = not as good as part 1 but ending is good enough to make you want to know how part 3 goes. Comparison: American Werewolf in London meets The Howling |
