Jason is still alive, somewhere, and we must realize stopping him is too difficult. We begin with Tina, a young girl who can't stand to see her father physically abuse her mother. Using her previously undiscovered powers of telekinesis, she is able to knock over the lake ramp he's standing on and he falls into the lake and dies. Now more than a decade later, she returns to the lake at the insistence of her shrink. Nearby is the traditional Camp Crystal Lake B-day party and a nice boy, Nick. One night as Tina looks at the lake she uses her powers to bring her dad back to life but those powers resurrect Jason
instead. Now Jason is free to roam the lakeside community in search of Tina. The closer Tina gets with Nick, the more the party-goers see Tina as a "freak." But as they all slowly split off to discover each other's bodies, Jason begins to kill the campers one by one. Can Tina use her powers to send Jason back to his death or will he resist and kill Tina?
Overall: Well, we have seen new ways to resurrect Jason. They killed him as a human in part 4, with an axe to the face. They faked his death in part 5, then killed him by drowning in part 6. But before they killed him in part 6, they resurrect him via electrical current. So somehow "21 gigawatts of electricity" (courtesy of "Back to the Future") can resurrect the dead after years in the ground and then miraculously drowning a dead person also works. So now we are able to resurrect Jason via telekinesis and of course the ending to this, though purely trash, at least follows the drowning mode. How come telekinesis usually only involves movement of non-human objects but now involves actually instilling life into them? Thank God that Hitler couldn't do that. As for Jason, this is the first shot at the character for Kane Hodder (1st of 3) and the 6th actor overall. Lots of scenes of Jason which was enlightening. Why does Jason go out to the lake forcing Tina to faint, then travel 5 miles away to begin his killing? It seems to make no sense. Why travel so far? And of course we begin to see the silliness of the series when drowning Jason does work and yet hanging, burying, and setting him on fire does not. The actual reasons for not dying via approved methods is never explained. Why would it? Death Count = 15; Overall = 95 (written 1999) 12/26/04 - Ok, so I got the DVD box set for X-mas this year and I took the time to start watching everything. The Chronicles feature of this film has bunches of interviews regarding the making of this film. What was very interesting was that the director originally tried to get this film to be "Freddy vs. Jason" but the talks bogged down and this product was the result. The extras also featured a lot of the film deaths but with the gorier parts included. You really get to see how much gorier and extreme the shots could have been.
