Jason is back, for real, and he's madder than hell. Tommy is still not convinced Jason is dead so he goes to the grave and tries to kill Jason again. But in doing so via plunging a metal rod into his heart, a lightening bolt hits the pole, putting millions of volts into Jason and kick-starting his engine. Now with Jason alive, Tommy must run. Tommy tries telling police but they aren't convinced and even suggest that the new name for the lake and town, Forest Green, shows a new commitment to having a no-deaths policy. But Jason loves to violate any laws and begins to stalk the lake's new visitors. Yep, a camp is being started by the Sheriff's daughter, Megan. The kids arrive and the camp begins with much hope. But by the end of the first night Jason has begun to strike. Even Sissy and Paula get into the act by playing "Jason Poker" (taking all the face cards and the ace of spades/Jason and seeing which card will be closest to Jason and die). Meanwhile the Sheriff has had enough of Tommy's rantings and has jailed him. Once the killings start, Tommy escapes.
The only way to kill Jason is to re-drown him in the lake, so while Tommy sets that up, Megan must dodge Jason. But will Tommy's plan work or will he be drowned instead?
Overall: Where do I begin? Well there's no nudity (first of the 6th), there are actually kids at the camp (1st time - all other time the camp was being set up but not actually in season) and now a 3rd different actor playing Tommy. That melds with the fifth different actor for Jason. We do see more of Jason than the prior 3 films and his adventures with war-games participants is kind of funny. For only the 2nd time in the 6 films, all people know of Jason's legacy (part 2). But tell me, how is it that if Tommy felt stabbing Jason in his grave was the only way to kill him, that drowning was the only way later on? Tommy, try pick a death mechanism! Tony Goldwyn ("Ghost") makes his debut and quickly dies. Death Count: 18, overall = 80. (written 1999) 12/26/04 - Ok, so I got the DVD box set for X-mas this year and I took the time to start watching everything. The "Chronicles" feature of this film has bunches of interviews regarding the making of this film. In terms of the deleted scenes, they cut some really gory images out but frankly, that might have just made this film better. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, that there is no way, in that year, these scenes could have made it past the MPAA. My Title: Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason is Back and Different 06/23/2009: So I've seen the movie more than a few times, including owning the original box set. However this is the new Deluxe Edition DVD. We get the 6th installment of the "Lost Tales" which is again 6-7 minutes of more footage designed to replicate the original films with victims being chased. This time we have information about Jason's dad, Mr. Voorhees. We get the background on the character and what the filmmakers were intending with this plot vein via storyboard. Interesting Stuff. Finally we have the "Crystal Lake Massacres Revisited, Part 3" which is another continuation of the mockumentary designed for fans. They put a lot of time into it and it was still cool again. |
