Summary: Whitney and friends travel to Crystal Lake to camp, but soon after finding a plantation of weed end up brutally attacked by Jason Voorhees. Six weeks later, Clay is seeking out his sister Whitney and meet up with other visitors hoping to camp Soon enough, they discover that Jason is killing everyone in the area and they must do whatever they can, to survive.

Overall: Not exactly a true remake, considering the character of Jason was not the killer in the first original film, this is a “re-imagining” and all that nonsense. So what we have is our killer, the camp and the usual delinquent young adults finding themselves dying while having sex or breaking the law in some way. It had some inventive kills, some nice gore. I thought the film was cheesy in other ways as its sets up creating the Jason legend for us,. Including how he finds his classic hockey mask. As it is, it’s a entertaining film but those in their 20’s in 2009 who didn’t catch the original films. But there is still something special, some traditional about the original films which makes them more interesting and worthwhile. Between “Part 2” and this film, I’d say go back to the oldies but goodies.

Comparison: Friday the 13th Part 2 meets Scream
