Neil is a scientist who has created engineered plant food that can create very large plants. However some rats he had been holding on to, escape and eat the plants and they eventually grow into monster size. Soon Neil must do the impossible and stop the very creatures he himself was responsible for escaping. And he may just have a rat on his side but not for long.
Overall: Well the beginning finally was a bit closer to the original book than the first film but then gets lost with animal activists and synchronized swimmers. Oh, and the boom mike visible at the 75 minute mark. It’s a silly film with no real redeeming qualities. The effects aren’t as cheesy as part 1 and yet the rats just don’t look as fun either. I will admit the swimming pool scene was unique but overall, it got slow and plodding and paid attention to far too many characters that didn’t get sewn into the ending. Comparison: Of Unknown Origin meets Back to School |
