The Fog (2005)

- written January 2006

Summary: Antonia Bay is trying to celebrate its history and today is the day that its ancestors will come back to set the record straight. Seems the town was created using some theft and murder and the victims are coming back for revenge.

Overall: What we have here is about 90 minutes of fog effects and little else. The film fails to truly develop any of the characters because when you watch the deleted scenes, that where those scenes are seated. It’s not a scary movie by any means...it’s just an effects film. Many people just drill this film as being “god awful.” It’s not bad…it just has no focus. We learn, for example, that Nick slept with Stevie Wayne 3 times while his girl was out of town for the last 6 months. So this assumes that Nick has a relationship with her. So if that was the case, how come by the end of the film, nothing in the plot revisits this, nor we see any true romance between Stevie and Nick, nor does Nick either know his girl is coming back to town, ever talks to her, or even recognizes her once she gets back. Basically, the film tried to connect the characters together and 2 sentence dialogue parts by minute 30 and left the rest of the film develop through effects. Bam, story is done. The film isn’t bad...it’s just incomplete.
