Flashback/Mörderische Ferien (2000)

- written June 2004

Jeanette and her parents are attacked by a serial killer and although she manages to survive, she is forced to watch the killer murder her parents. Years later after spending all of them in an asylum she is released and ready to start a new life as a French tutor for a group of wealthy teenagers. But it seems the killer or the killer's soul has returned and bodies are starting to pile up. Is the killer really back or is a copycat looking to haunt Jeanette?

Overall: This German movie was decent and it's my own fault for getting the film on vhs and not dvd. So my copy was dubbed instead of the far superior subtitling. I'm not gonna hold dubbing against the movie since it was my own fault. I did like the story despite it being slow at times. I liked the ending although I did see it coming - what bugged me was given how everything progressed, who really was the killer? I'm not gonna give away the secrets of the movie in this review but I just think that not all of the plot threads comported with how the film ended up. You tell me if you think you got it. I did like the fact the young adults saw the film "The Relic" which is one of my all-time favorites.
