Kimberly has just foreseen her own death and the death of about a dozen more people. Recognizing that today is the one year anniversary of the horrific
plane crash from part 1, Kimberly refuses to get onto the highway or let the
people behind her to do so either. Seconds later the bad crash happens but now
everyone is alive that she dreamt of. Death is gonna come for them and they have to enlist the help of the only remaining survivor from part 1, Clear
Rivers, to help save them. But she’s so scared of Death herself she may not
help!
Overall: First thing I gotta say is “Awesome effects.” One of the best car crash sequences of all-time and the other death scenes are quite impressive. What is also better than part 1 is that in the first film all the deaths, although “accidental”, you could still see how “Death” was making things happen. Example of the bathtub scene where the water had a mind of its own or towards the end with the electrical lines - it was as if the inanimate objects were animate. In this film, it is more of these people are going to die but nothing of that “supernatural” stuff is happening - just a ton of bad luck. I think I prefer this movie in that regard. The problem with this film is that they killed off Alex & Carter (you already assumed via part 1 he was dead but hey, the sign could have missed). Instead of having a nice beginning where you actually see them die off, we get almost nothing. Nothing special in the alternate scenes" from the dvd. Also, in the first film the deaths seemed to have some time between them - like it wasn't happening all it once. Here the characters basically run from death scene to death scene. I think the way the ending was with the ambulance into the lake was a bit lame - they could have just ended the movie in the hospital with the baby being born, Kimberly having her remembering and then blam, something happens ala part 1. I liked the whole barbecue ending but the cheesiness of the lake ordeal took a bit of the edge off. I gotta say go out and enjoy this film - it keeps getting better.
