- Brad Dourif and Brian Metcalf are curently working on "Fading of the Cries." Brad has appeared in many movies, including as the voice of Chucky in the "Child's Play" franchise. Brian is the director and writer of "Fading of the Cries." Anyone looking for more info on the film, can visit the official webpage.
Q: Brad and Brian, can you each explain how you first got into the movie business?
A: Brad – My mom read me a lot of books, worked in the local theatre and as I grew-up I decided that was what I wanted.
Brian – I was really into visual effects and dvd’s. I worked on a lot of other’s projects but obviously one day I wanted to work for myself.
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: Brian – I want people to enjoy the movie for themselves. There’s a great quicktime trailer on the website.
Brad – I think it’s kind of a scary movie. There are themes of revenge and being consumed by something. Very scary.
Q: When did you first create the idea to do “Fading of the Cries”?
A: Brian – I came up with the idea when I was much younger. I created a graphic novel in 1999 and created a concept trailer in 2002. Working with Thomas Ian Nichols, we did a lot of back and forth with it. Then in 2008, we got the funding to do it. I knew I always wanted Brad for the role.
Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: Brad – I’ve been doing this for a long time so I am never surprised by anything. However because of the schedule we did have to work pretty fast. There are over 1000 special effects in the film, most of the budget is spent on those. We just had to move quickly. Nothing was too difficult though. Just tough to get it all in. Just some grueling days.
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work the way you thought it could?
A: Brian – 1st day with Brad and Jordan on set. I was watching it on camera and even though they had done a lot of rehearsal I really liked how it worked.
Brad – There are some very intensive fight scenes but they were choreographed the right way. There was a lot of practice but I was surprised it worked so easily.
Q: What’s next for you? If you and I were to talk 1 year from today, what do you think would be on your plate at that time?
A: Brad – We’re plotting to unleash on the World a whole lot of stuff. We’re doing a lot of brainstorming. One projects we are working on is “Black Lands” – It’s about an alchemist and the alchemist’s student. The alchemist has been alive for hundreds of years. There are a lot of characters. We want to have a lot of webisodes and comic books of this, maybe even a TV series and a feature film. We’re mapping it all out.
Brian – Yeah, and the alchemist student is gonna end up in trouble at times and need Brad to save them.
Q: What are your aspirations and goals in the movie industry? Box Office blockbusters? Films that anyone can watch? Something else?
A: Brian – I want to make movies for fun and make them interesting. I am open to all genres.
Brad – I’m addicted to Anime so I think that that genre has something there that hasn’t been truly been captured in feature films. I think the idea of adolescence suddenly having to save the world. Anime does this better than any other medium.
Q: Can you name a film that my visitors probably haven’t seen, that you think has either been an influence in your work or just feel is a “can’t miss” film?
A: Brian – “Let the Right One in” – I was really impressed.
Brad – I agree with “Let the right One in” but also, “The Wicker Man”. The original.
Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?
A: Brad – I suck at “The World of Warcraft”
Brian – I like to play “Lineage” when I have the time. But I’m usually always working. So that and watching Anime.
Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?
A: Brian – We just that we are at the end of completing the film and really excited to be there. I want to thank all the bands for letting us use their music. Just make sure everyone checks out the movie trailer at I-Tunes.
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
