Overall: It’s rare the movies truly get me riled up enough to write the really long reviews but this will be one of them. Let me address the “Pros” of the film first. If you had to remake “Rear Window” and put it into 1007, you gotta admit, this was a really good idea for making it work. Unlike the 1950’s, even if Kale had been in a wheelchair, with today’s gizmos he could have left the house and kept busy. This deal with the GPS on his leg, keeping him locked in the home at all times, was fairly ingenious. He has a cute girl getting involved and all the technology sorta saves us time tog et to the good violent scenes near the end. Overall, it’s a good attempt. Now, the “Cons.” We didn’t need a remake to “Rear Window.” A classic suspenseful film that needed no remake, which really put me off from watching the movie. Secondly, I’m not a fan of Shia…never have been. Not sure why but I’m not. Third, They sure jump to a lot of conclusions quite fast in the movie. Sure he turns out to be correct but they suspended my disbelief for a very long time as I struggled to buy jumping to such wild conclusions. And finally, what was with that huge massive basement??? It was like looking at the Terra Cotta Warriors with the rows of dug up earth and columns and bodies and such. I mean it’s enough the house is huge with fake rooms and all but that basement and the like was just way too massive, too spacious to be believable! I wanted to like the film but as it proceeded, just way too many cons...things that bugged me. Comparison: Rear Window meets Enemy of the State |
