- Demona Bast is the star of "Prison of the Psychotic Damned ." Anyone looking for more info on Demona or her films, can visit her at her IMDB page or her myspace page.
Q: Ms. Bast, can you explain how you first got into the movie business?
A: I have always been involved in plays ever since I was a fairy child about the age of 4 when living in Brazil and carried on here to USA and I loved it! It became my passion just as music and modeling have.
But my very first role on TV was as an extra on a Comedy Disney movie called "Big Trouble" with Jason Lee, Tom Sizemore, Rene Russo, Johnny Knoxville, Tim Allen & more.
Ever since than I had the desire for more & more but this time... a bigger role.
I was found one day by the miracle of the internet through my website, and than ever since; it only started to grow & moving forward to a bigger success in which I'm proud of.
I was lucky I didn't even have to try out, for any of the roles ever. I'm flattered they trusted my words and ability to act without having to prove a thing. I have no problems trying out, but I'm flattered that such directors had faith in me and only got fantastic results from me...that’s what I heard. ;)
Q: Would you please explain your role in "Prison of the Psychotic Damned."
A: I see dead people! hehe
I'm a gothic psychic girl named "Aurora Grammit" with a touch of a mediumship & abilities to predict danger in the air and etc... I go through a few adventures, as ghosts try to make my life a living hell. I sense things that are in the surroundings as a warning...but once inside that hunted place it's to late to turn back from those deadly walls of the prison of the psychotic damned.
Therefore my companions think I'm a strange and a weird character for having such powers and thinking I talk only lies and nonsense...My character is soft but yet strong in a interesting way. I'm Dark with a gift that many would never comprehend & wish they had.
I loved my role and would not change for any other. I was asked to be "Kansas" at first, but I'm so glad I was who I was. Not that I disliked the role...it's just that being Aurora fits my skin better. Like they say: everything happens for a reason. Lol. Plus it's something I have always been interested in and it was easy to adjust myself since I'm interested in that kind of normal things that many consider abnormal. In the other hand, I admire the unknown and have no problems with it. My role was not hard for me at all to bring it to live...maybe it's because I'm part of it already.
Q: Was there anything in your life related to or that you studied that could prepare you for your role?
A: Yes indeed, as growing up, I have been always around mysterious and unknown things & creatures in which today I consider part of life and learned to adjust myself during these centuries.
I'm a spirit lover! Dealing with spirits to me is just as the same with dealing with living creatures which sometimes could be worse than dealing with the dead. Living humans scares me more than the dead. Sad but true! hehe
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one’s product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about this film.
A: Most definitely! The first thing they should know is: Don't let your kids watch it! Until they're grown... haha
Q: If there were one part of the film that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: About a custom...Well, I would say that it was the time when I was for about 2 hours half sitting and laying down with a mask on which they were creating of me (a mold of my face). I had to be careful not to move a muscle and not to breathe so heavily at any second. But at the same time it was exciting & an unique experience in which I had no problems at all.
Another one was a scene where me and Bloom had to run through a whole way really fast from a ghost that was chasing us. But because that place was so old & cool lookin'...there was piles and piles of dust on the floor and my leg dug down one of the piles and I fell first than she fell down next then each one of the crew including the cam man, director and etc... Fell down right behind us, one after the other...one at a time. it was sooooooooo funny, I could not stop laughing my guts out because of the situation of everybody following, running & falling like a domino's game would. lol
And the lines, well, I had it all memorized before I arrived to the set, only because I'd rather keep it that way & it's a must to do in my book.
The small changes was that when I arrived at the hotel, I had a few changes here and there that need to be made. But no big deal! I got that baby down in nooooo time. hehe That’s the good thing about me I guess. The only tiny problem is that when ever I get a script I make sure I read it everyday and memorize it like it is my phone number. haha I was joking about the problem. It's never a problem...It's natural!
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?
A: When ever I'm involved in such projects I always have a positive thought about it. So to me it's a given that the projects I get in...will work anyway, no matter what. I don't try to get myself involved in such projects that might not go anywhere. I had my past experiences in which many have and learning from it it's a good lesson. Although you never really know what you gonna get yourself involved in...oh well...it's always recommend to follow your own instincts. Don’t get me wrong though...I do strongly respect every single project that is out there...weather they made it or not. it's still marvelous that such people have all these creative ideas in which they manage to put forth into this word...Never stop creating the impossible...cause anything "IS" possible!
Q: Since “Prison of the Psychotic Damned ” what have you been working on?

Q: I notice from your myspace page you are a singer too. Please tell me what got you started to singing professionally.
A:
All the singing, modeling and acting was all started at around the same time. I have always been interested in artistic, creative stuff. From watching TV and listening to radios and looking at magazines. Made me wanna say: I want to do it allllll.
it felt like as if it was always in me to be such things...when you share with the world as they admire your talent is much more appreciated when it's shared with the right creatures. And of to being able in doing all these things...it's a gift.
I believe I was born to do what I do and it's in what I do best. And from being experienced it can only get better.
I 'm thankful for my admires in which I have witness with some fans, it's so amazing when people build their own and whole lives around you and trying to be you, dress like you & even going as far to get the same tattoo as mine & etc... I know they will never be me, but it's just unique how much effort they put on just to be your clone. With the way I look, sing, act and all. WOW, it amazes me! I'm flattered! Dark blessings for all of my cool fans out there!:)
Q: Between your modeling, singing, acting, etc. Is there any one type of work you prefer to do above all else?
A: NO, I love it all!
They all have their own uniqueness. It's hard to describe, unless you're experiencing it. Doing all and being able to share it with the world in such different ways it's so extraordinary, I think. Especially when working with such amazing creative people that got along with me all very well.
Another thing is that I like the fact that I can be and act as anything according to my photos. It’s a form of showing that I'm willing and can transform into whatever you desire when working with me. I can be from a Victorian classic lady from the 19th century times to a monster creature, vampire from the underworld and also a possessed person, a silver girl with body paint, a comic book character, I can be sexy and scary at the same time & etc.... It's awesome to be all! LOL
Same thing with music, I can sing like an Angel and I can sing like a demon. Bringing all to the table, with varieties to share it with the whole world is something that I respect and glad that I'm universal in different ways & perspectives. The more varieties the better successssssss in fulfilling my desires.... I don't focus in only one thing...when knowing that out there there's a lot more to be explored and experienced. We live once in this planet earth...the rest is all for eternity on the other side. "Sitra Achra"!
Doing everything that I can possibly do is a blessing to me so I will always keep on doing it until my time is out, I enjoy every single one of them and now I'm even getting myself involved with Belly Dancing. I already know Samba and Lambada...why not include some other exotic dances such as bellydance, expand my abilities. Hehe. To me...it's like a perfect exercise.
Q: What’s next for you? If you and I were to talk 1 year from today, what do you think would be on your plate at that time?
A: Well, knowing myself very well, I never stop and always try to get my self involved in some kind of a possible great opportunity. I will be with a CD out and making more, I will be on a series of 2 years and with many other new unique photos. With my store running and doing what's suppose to be doing... well with my partner Lord Cruzan, of course hehe and a bunch of new exciting new things. I like going with the flow and take the first opportunity that comes my way, to let me in it only takes an invite to join my Dark yet Light talented world. I'm flexible that way.
Q: Is there any movie director or producer you really want to work for one day? Someone that you look up to?
A: Oh but of course, there are too many...I don't want them to think I'm leaving anybody out. But I guess I should at least write some lovely names in here...lol
I'm a big fan of Francis Ford Coppola, Dario Argento, John Carpenter, Ted Nicolaou, Don Coscarelli, Rob Zombie, Charles Band, Oliver Stone, Jean-Baptiste Andrea, Fabrice Canepa, Michael Rymer, James Mangold, Victor Salva, Adrian Lynne, E. Elias Merhiges, John Waters, Stefen Ruzowitzky, Gore Verbinsky, Craig R. Baxley, Jim Henson, Robert Freeman, Bivas Bsiwas, Nick Cassavetes, Stephen King, Joseph L. Mankiewicz, Jeremiah S. Chechik, Richard Fleischer, Stuart Gordon, Sebastian Gutierrez, Barry Sonnenfeld, Bernard Rose, Sally Potter, Sam Irvin, Eli Roth, Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Hathryn Bigelow, David Carson, Herbert Wise, and much, much, much more...
Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?
A: Since you're giving me this chance, I would like for them to know that...I like it to keep at as a mystery...But why not spill it a little bit...:
If you take a closer look...you'll see that I'm an open book.... But still...don't judge the book by its cover! ;)
Q: Finally...this is an “Obscure Horror Movie” website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on DVD, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven’t seen?
A: The last movie I have watched in which I already have watched a thousand times but never get tired was the "Bram Stoker's Dracula" with Gary Oldman, "Phantasm," "Subspecies" and "Dead End."
One of my favorite horror movies that maybe probably a lot of people haven’t watched is "Begotten"....this one if you're sensitive to darkness you better prepare your soul. It's an experimental horror movie...But the art of it is very creative and unique for those who likes silent films and black & white underground experimental movies. Not everyone can handle that movie...(- I have heard.)
There's a lot of great movies out there such as "Bram Stoker's Dracula", "300", "Dead End" and more...it's a tuff choice for me.
Till Next Time,
In Darkness...
