The Vigilante is back and in New York again. And crime will never be the same. Paul Kersey comes back to New York to visit a buddy of his from the Korean War, Charlie. But that very day the gangland punks who live near this apartment building finally get to Charlie and kill him. Just as Paul finds the body, the police find him and mistakenly think he’s the killer. After time in jail, enough to meet up with the gang’s leader, Fraker. A few skirmishes inside is enough to make any man want to kill but now Detective Shriker, knows who Paul is. With crime up so high that nothing yet has made a dent in it, Shriker decides that in return for Paul’s release, Paul helps to clean up the area. With pleasure Paul starts his ritual vigilante job. But the mobs seem so big, he needs help and gets it from his old pal, Wildey (a massive magnum gun). Now with the odds more even Paul starts to avenge all crimes against the neighborhood’s residents. But Fraker doesn’t think this old man can do it and has a few tricks up his sleeve. But then again so does the Head Detective. The only question is, how many will die before its all over.
Overall: Most violent of the 3 films and of course it includes the obligatory rape scene. Paul’s loved one is killed again for the 3rd straight film too. The plot is contrived, weak and makes all police departments look bad, that with the entrance of one individual that much change could occur. But this may be the only film where you can actively root for the good guy to go out of his way to injure the bad guys. The prior films, it was just death in revenge. Now its pain and suffering and all the blood and gore that goes with it. Don’t miss Alex Winter from "Bill and Ted’s" as a punk. Comparison: Serpico meets Police Academy |
