Summary: A group of Norwegian pre-med students head up to a remote mountainside cabin for some snow-related fun, cuz that’s what Norwegian students do in lieu of going to Cancun. But suddenly: Nazi zombies!

Overall: Thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh, we could debate if the Nazi zombies were really zombies (I say no), but that’s just nit-picking. The film looks gorgeous and makes great use of the snowy, desolate setting. The rapport between the pre-med students is quickly established without resorting too heavily on stock characters and, amazingly, none of them are so annoying that you count the minutes until their death. There’s gore a’plenty, and the last third of the film is just full-on out of control. Dead Snow even does a good job of working in humor without ever letting you (or our heroes) forget how dire the situation is. I’d happily recommend this film, and that’s not something I can often do.

Comparison: Evil Dead II (with Nazis) + Hot Dog…The Movie (minus Shannon Tweed)
