Summary: On May 8th, 1984, 12-year-old J.R. Sorg murdered his mother with an ax. For eight years, the boy remained at the Saint Catherine Mental State Hospital. In 1992, he escaped, brutally murdering many innocent people in the process. The manhunt for J.R. was called off after six months due to lack of evidence; the media had a field day and titled it "Day of the Ax." But this so called Day of the Ax was only the beginning. Overall: Although some parts of the film are original and different, there’s just way too much of the movie that’s directly copycatting “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 & 2.” Characters, dialogue, acting, etc. It’s all way too familiar and really takes away from the product. And frankly, the film switches between trying to be a news documentary to a police drama to a horror movie. It’s all over the place, and the sound volume switches depending on the camera angle so that can get very annoying at times. I’ve seen a few of Ryan Cavalline’s films and although there’s some promise there, we’re still seeing some bigtime errors that can’t help but diminish the final products.
