Summary: Riddick, Imam and Jack are still flying through the space, safe from the creatures they had just encountered. However today they get caught up by a giant ship filled with mercs and a “collector.” The leader, Chillingsworth, loves capturing bad guys and making them parts of her “collection.” But Riddick won’t let this happen and he’s ready to kick butt to live!

Overall: If you’re reading my review, you probably already know this is the 30 minutes animated “bridge” between both films. Or at least that’s what the “series’” creators are hoping that’s the load of crap you’ll buy from them. The film follows fairly soon to where part 1 left off...and by the end introduces us to the planet that Imam and Jack will eventually be found again on. And it introduces “Tooms” for our viewing pleasure. What it does not do is explain why those characters stayed for 4 more years on a planet they didn’t want to go to. Riddick told them he was dropping them off. In addition, we see no more character development of any of those 3 characters so nothing in “Riddick” has been further set up by this film. There is nothing here that helps your understanding of the sequel. At all. Ever. 30 minutes of sometimes very weak animation involving very poor voice performances by our 3 main characters. All action, no story. All fights, no useful dialogue.

And the effects...although some good animation at times, when they choose to switch to CGI spaceships and the like, oh my God, could that be more obvious??? Some truly awful transitions for sure. I expected very little from this film...and it was worse than I expected. And still reminded me of the fact that the “Jack” character was played and voiced by Rhiana Griffith and she lost out trying to reprise her own role. That’s just some bad karma there. Why not audition Jet li for Riddick’s role too?

          Skip it.
