Q: Hi Damien, glad to have you back again. Without giving too much away for later questions, what have you been up to since we last talked (June 2009)?
A:
Glad to be back Rich! I’ve been staying busy with the acting and have worked on some great projects since. One of my projects I am most proud of was having a speaking role on, “As the World Turns”, playing Officer Daniel Devito. That was a big accomplishment for me and I always wanted to be on a soap opera. It was a great experience! I also just wrapped my scenes for the horror film, "No Strings 2: Playtime in Hell" in which I had the male lead in. I had a great time working on it!
Q: Tell me a little bit about some of your new projects. First, “No Strings 2: Playtime in Hell.” How did you get involved and what’s it about?
A:
Well, originally actresses Anne Ferrari and Suzi Lorraine helped link me up with the director, Robert Noel Gifford. Rob liked my work and said he’d like to use me when he had a role available I would fit in one of his films. So that day came with “No Strings 2: Playtime in Hell” and I was very happy to be a part of it. Actually I was kind of honored Rob chose me to play the male lead in his film since I’m also the only male cast in the film! Lol.
The film is about a clown doll possessed by a demon who goes on a bloody rampage of murder after being found and taken into a home. The home of Diana (played by Anne Ferrari), who rents out rooms to other woman. Jennifer (played by Julie Anne) is the one who finds this “doll” and brings it into their home. The film stars: Anne Ferrari, Julie Anne, Anju McIntyre, Max Wasa, Jacquelyn Velvets, Zoe Vargas, Monique Gata Dupree, Vania Bezerra, and Meredith Otten.

Q: Who do you play in the film?
A:
I play Kevin, who’s also Jennifer’s boyfriend. My character thinks he’s god’s gift to all woman on earth. So, he’s cool, cocky, and doesn’t take any shit!
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: Well, there is a doll in the film, but it’s a lot different than Chucky in, “Child’s Play”. Robert created a great original story which separates itself from that film and goes in a different direction. Also, the doll in this film later has some help during his “playtime”. Robert added some beautiful and talented actresses to the cast to help bring his vision to life, as well as Larry, the evil Demon clown doll!
Q: You have a huge cast of stars in the film. Tell me a little bit about your costars and your experience with them: Anne Ferrari, Julie Anne, Jackie Velvets, and director Robert Noel Gifford.
A:
I’ve worked with Italian actress Anne Ferrari in several films and she’s always great to work with and a class act. I was really looking forward to working with her again. She’s really dedicated and so helpful to everybody on set. She’s a huge asset on any film she’s a part of in so many ways. She’s also very easy to work with. Her husband, Daniel Reiss, who’s a Pete Rose look-alike, is always a great help on set too and is good to see. The scene I had with Anne went great and she really got into her character, doing a great job playing a bitchy “Diana” in the film.
I reached out to Julie Anne (who’s from Florida) prior to shooting. I feel it’s good to know your fellow cast members at least a little before filming, especially in this case since she was playing my girlfriend in the film. I must say, Julie Anne has such a great, positive outlook about life in general. She truly surprised me, and even inspired me a little bit. So, I was definitely looking forward to meeting and working with her. Most of my scenes in the film were with her and they went great! We seemed to have really good chemistry on set. I was very happy Rob paired us up together. Julie Anne told me after filming our one scene in the basement people told her they thought we were really fighting. So I guess we did do a great job together! Lol.
One of my final scenes in the film was with Jacquelyn Velvets. It’s true what they say about her too, she’s as smooth as velvet! Here is this sweet, innocent looking girl, but as soon as she had blood in her mouth, and fire in her eyes, it was on! Jackie really got into her scene and character with me as we both enjoyed eating poor Julie Anne while we had her tied up! Julie Anne is definitely a tasty girl too!
Director Robert Noel Gifford, wow! I could say so many good things about working with him. I’ll start by saying he’s really professional and also very sincere and genuine. He really cares about his actors, including safety and making sure they’re comfortable with their scenes. He’s easy going and simply fun to work with. He really helps create a positive atmosphere to work in, which includes casting the right people. I like what Robert does with his films, and how he handles them. He is kind of a one man show, even having his own distribution for his films.
Q: And “Gorezone Magazine”. What’s going on there? And how was it to work with Suzi Lorraine?
A:
Suzi Lorraine asked me to play Larry Pearson in a short film she was doing that would be a DVD insert in "Gorezone" Magazine as well as air on Gorezone TV in the UK. The film is called, "Tales From the Underbelly of Hell: American Serial Killers". The film was directed by the talented James “Dr. Death” Morgart and written by both him and Suzi. James was really great to work with and just like one of us on set. He was very friendly, chill, and down to earth. He definitely had a great vision for this film which totally came alive. His wife Jennifer did a great job on the set too. The cast included: Suzi Lorraine, Jessica Dlugash, Dai Green, Aaron Dlugasch , Jennifer Morgart, and Rob Kabakoff. Ingrid Okola and Paul Mafuz did an incredible job doing FX makeup work on the cast. The film looks extremely realistic and has some pretty crazy, disturbing, and simply sick scenes in it! The film is about Demon Suzi who rules over the lands in a world filled with serial killers. Time and space mean nothing to her, she sees all! Demon Suzi reigns judgment over all the serial killers in this world and judgment day is now!
Unfortunately I didn’t have any scenes with Suzi. She was there towards the end of one of my scenes though. Her smile and warm caring personality light up any room she’s in. She just brings such a good, positive vibe to the set. To me, Suzi Lorraine is “big time”, and that’s well deserved due to her being a beautiful person on the inside and out. I am proud and honored to be considered her friend.
Bryn Hammond created “Gorezone” magazine and to me, it’s such a classy and stylish magazine for horror films. It really is on a higher level than most and shows why it’s the number 1 selling horror film magazine in the world. So I was very pleased to be a part of this film and the magazine. The film should be released in the magazine in a few months. The May issue of “Gorezone” Magazine has a 2-3 page write up about the film and cast including pictures.
Q: You’ve also appeared on the TV show: “As the World Turns". How did you get involved with that?
A:
I went to a casting call with over 450 people to audition for 4 possible speaking roles. 2-time Emmy Award winning casting director, Mary Clay Bond, chose me to play Officer Daniel Devito on the soap. Most of my scenes and lines were with series regular, Michael Park, who plays Jack Snyder. It was our job to find and arrest a Ben Franklin impersonator for robbing a bank. We later found him ready to jump off a building ledge at City Hall in Philadelphia, PA. Michael was great to work with and I hung out with him for much of the day including helping him read lines for some of his other scenes later that day. I also met the lovely Cady McClain who plays Rosanna on the soap. She was very nice and so sweet. I really enjoyed my experience working on the soap and wouldn’t trade it for anything!
Q: What can you tell me about the “Nick Nitro” Series you’re in?
A:
I play “The Jackal”, one of the main villains in this action packed comedy series directed by Darin Martinez. Some of the comedy and action scenes are really over the top. I’ve known Darin for a couple years now and he is really great to work with. I feel very comfortable being on set with him since we get along really well. We did a Pilot for the series a year and half ago which was well received. Now the series is revamped including being shot in HD and with new cast members. The original core of the series is still fully intact though with: Darin, Christopher Bruce (who plays Nick Nitro), and myself. I like working with Chris a lot because we seem to complement each other very well. It’s a different kind of bond I have than with other actors because I feel we both really try and help each other to get the best possible performances from one another. We just wrapped Episode 1: Mr. Biggs is Back. It should be online very soon. We start shooting episode 2 in a couple weeks.

Q: Can you tell me what else you have planned for 2010?
A:
I have several projects in the works and am constantly talking to new directors all the time about being a part of their films. To mention one film I’m in though it’s called, “Bloodball”. It’s an action film directed and written by the “Hawk”, Rob Hawk. Shelli Misoyianis is the co-writer and co-producer on the film who I’ve known for some time. She’s great and really excited about the film. Richard Pryor, Jr. and I were two of the first people to sign on to do the film. I was very happy when I heard Richard was. I was a big fan of his father. Richard seems really great too and like such a positive person since knowing and talking with him. I play “DJ Frost” in the film.
Q: Finally...can you name a horror movie you’ve been dying to watch but just haven’t had the opportunity to see yet?
A:
I wouldn’t say dying to see, I mean I will survive if I don’t see them but I would like to. Peter Jackson’s “Meet the Feebles”, “[Rec]”, and I think the new “Nightmare on Elm Street” looks pretty good. Also, I really enjoy seeing my friends in their films. So I always look forward to and enjoy when they have a new film I can check out.
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
A: No, thank you Rich, it was fun and I always enjoy doing them with you!
