- Christina Sampson has appeared in a few movies, including "Just Like Me". Anyone looking for more info on Christina or her films, can visit her at her IMDB page or her website.
Q: Ms. Sampson, can you explain how you first got into the movie business.
A: When I was a child I always had a fascination with films. I wanted to know everything I could about making them. I started mimicking people I saw on tv shows, and films. I was intrigued by the idea of being able to portray different characters. I was eager for the challenge although I was fearful and skeptical at first. I started doing runway modeling for different designers anywhere from clothing to hats. I wound up meeting a few actors and through talking with them I found the confidence I needed to pursue my own dreams. When I felt ready to actually search out work I came across a screenwriter who happened to have a script entitled "Just like Me". I read through it a few times and I liked the storyline. I saw the challenge I had been looking for. With that first script I became driven for more.
Q: Would you please explain your part in "Just Like Me"?
A: In "Just Like Me" I portrayed the lead female character, Barbara Sue Kelly. The character was in her mid 20's. I had to become "Barbara" in a way. Trying to identify with the trials and tribulations that "she" went through. I wanted to make the audience feel for her. When it was a good time I wanted smiles, When it was a bad time, I wanted disappointment. I wanted them to relate in someway or another. I wanted "her" story to come to life. I practiced facial expressions, body language, everything to bring the character to life. There is a particular scene in which called for my character to cry. I actually cried real tears for that scene. In the end I think I accomplished what I set out to do. I am satisfied with the end result!
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one’s product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: Just Like Me, will have you relating to at least one of the characters in every scene. It tells a story about real life experiences. You will find yourself sharing the emotions of the characters. Just like Me has it all. You will be stuck to your seat through the entire running. The is a comedy about truly finding yourself in the last place you would ever look. This is a must see.
Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: I think one of the most difficult scenes to film is where we are in Dr. Marv's office having a pretty heated discussion and one of his patients come in. The actors and myself involved couldn't keep a straight face. It was just so funny.
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?
A: I was fortunate to work with some amazing people. I never doubted the film would not be completed the way we set forth to accomplish it.
Q: Did you do any behind the scenes work on the film too?
A: Yes, I actually did a number of things behind the scenes. I was not only a lead actor but, an Assistant Director, Casting Director, Producer, Locations scout, and Hair and make-up. It was really fun to be involved with some many different aspects of filming. This was my first introduction to this Industry and I feel in love with everything about it!
Q: Can you tell me a little bit about some of your other projects and maybe a brief story about them?
A: Vooshaday~ is a script that myself along with Roberto Lombardi have written and rewritten a number of times. We have now finalized it and are seeking investors. I am looking to film this as a full feature film. "VoOsHaDaY" is a Mob Drama movie. This film involves a girl named Lana.In which had witnessed someone kill her mother as a child. Mr. Gambini, Lana's father works for the Mob. An agreement was made, this guy has now vanished! One Mob family has now turned into two all because of a deal gone wrong. A simple newspaper add has turned lives upside down and left everyone searching for answers bringing you Crime, Sex and Be trail all action packed and full of entertainment in order to present to you "VoOshADaY". I have copyrighted my script and have it available now for viewing.
Abduction~ "Abduction" is a film that was thus far one of the most controversial things that I have done. It takes place in a unknown town that specializes in Harvesting body parts, Sex Slavery, Kidnapping, Murder, and Child Adoption. I portrayed a character named "Myrtle". The film is scary, dramatic, and exciting to watch. It was an experience I won't ever forget! The other people involved were awesome to work with. They were talented, kind ,professional and down to earth The director John Orrichio is very talented and it was a pleasure working with him.
The Happening~ "The Happening" was fun to film. I was on set with Mark Whalberg and at least 100 other people. It was so busy and surprisingly organized. I learned a lot from such a big budget set. I was one of the train passengers.
Q: Are there any other projects I haven’t asked about?
A: I have a few upcoming films that I am working on now. I am trying to secure financing to get "VoOsHaDaY" filmed. That would be my dream. This is the first script that I not only own but, have contributed to writing as well.
I am working on a film entitled "Extinction". I portray a character that is a guardian statue. Extinction is a Sci-Fi full length action, adventure film. It involves the Captain Steve Colossus who finds himself struggling to rescue the team he had to leave behind in a Computerized World in order to save the Real World!!!! We have Luke Gross, Vince Puma, Mark Weiler, Art Lyle, Lana May, Mike Marino, and Many more talented actors involved. This film is being directed by A.J. Carter.
The second is Johnny Blue, . I am going to be portraying the character of a nurse. "Johnny Blue" is the story of two teenage boys from different backgrounds that find friendship from their love of music and playing the guitar. We have Shirley Jones, Mary Folley, Kevin Sizemore, and many other talented actors attached! This film is being directed by John Orrichio. He is an award winning filmmaker, director, screenwriter, and musician. He has 6 feature films distributed worldwide thus far.
I recently started working with another independent production company Ikuzo Studios. I met with representatives Mike E. Pringle and James Panetta. Mike offered me a role in "UFAC" to portray the character "IZU". "UFAC" is a film is a Sci-Fy adventure with a touch of humor and heart. It is set in the "present" day and centers around the James Foundation (JF). It's a team of science detectives that meet and deal with aliens.
Later Mike Pringle asked me if I wanted to be a spokesperson for the film. I agreed of coarse to both. Right now they are in the middle of getting this project funded. The idea for this is to start off as 2 to 3 made-for-tv movies then continue as a weekly television series. To keep up to date with the producer and the project visit these sites… www.ufac455.com & www.inmikescorner.com
I am also working of a project entitled "Merc Force". I will be portraying one of the Captains of a ship. (TBD name) "MercForce" is a story about being in the right place at the wrong time. Primo Corvelli, Brice Creed, and the crews of the Artemis and the Caladan are on a simple smash and grab mission on the planet of Eden. Although little do they know what dangers await them.. This is being directed by James Panetta.
I will also be working on getting my film "VoOsHaDaY" financed.
This is all that I have in the works at this moment however, I am always looking for more scripts both television and film to get involved with!!!
Q: Is there any movie director or producer you’ve never worked for that you really want to work for one day?
A: I greatly admire Alan Ball, Jerry Bruckheimer, Brian Buckner, Catherine Hardwicke, Michael Bay, Wes Craven, Peter Jackson, M.Night Shyamalan, and so many more! They each have their own unique style and I would love to work with them some day. I also have meant some amazing up and coming directors, producers that are very talented like John Orrichio, Brandon E. Brooks, Chris Notarile, David Greenberg, and Roberto Lombardi! I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Lombardi numerous times and we both actually wrote the "VoOsHaDaY" script together. I look forward to a long successful business relationship with him for he is extremely talented.
Q: What do you look for when picking projects?
A: A new script. A challenging character that I can portray. I also look for location and other people involved. I try to work with different Directors, Actors, and Producers. I find everyone makes films differently. I also am finding all my work myself. I am in the process of seeking out a agent, manager and also publicist that can help me with my career.
Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?
A: I actually have my degree as a Surgical Specialist. I specialized in Laproscopic surgery. I throughout school achieved my bar-tending license so that I could make money prior to my graduating. I also am a Black Belt in Tang So Do. I love acting and am career driven. I am very humble and truly appreciate everything in my life.
