Chainsaw Sally (2004)

Summary: Sally is a quiet librarian who runs a tight ship where she works. But at night, she’s loud, abrasive and downright criminal. She’ll kill anyone that wrongs her and her brother isn’t very sane either.

Overall: The film doesn’t start off clear early on who the main character is, what the film is about, etc. It gets cleared up later but it really was an odd start to the film for me…especially because after like 10-15 min we’ve barely seen “Sally.” I liked the performance of our main actress…but what I didn’t like were the chainsaw scenes. If you’re gonna shoot close-ups of the actual device…turn it on! You hear the whirring as she’s about to start killing but the blade isn’t moving!

It’s a heroic effort for some relatively newbies to the horror genre but has occasional flaws. No question the films strength is the lead actress and the plot showing a strong, dynamic woman. And so what if she kills people for fun. We’ve got good performances, some really nice ideas and with the possibility of a sequel sometime down the road, I’m looking forward to it!
