Well, Candyman is back and he's even deader than before. We begin with showing Prof. Purcell who gives us the background of Candyman in the first film. Now he's in Louisiana (yeah, the south!) promoting his book based on the events of Helen Lyle in the first film. But their are relatives of a man who showed up at a book signing, the Prof. gave, are angry with Purcell. Seems their father said "the name" 5 times one night because Purcell urged him and their father later died . After a tense confrontation between Ethan Turrant (son of the deceased) and Purcell, Purcell meets up with "the subject" of his book and dies. Ethan is suspected of the killing but tries not to defend himself. Ethan's sister though, brings his defense along by trying to find out more about Candyman. She dives into the ghetto of New Orleans to find out the past, including finding the very mirror which imprisoned Candyman. She finds him and realizes Candyman is but a relative of the Turrant family, named Daniel Robitaille, and that her father actually summoned Candyman because he found a way to destroy him. Will Ethan be saved or will Annie end up falling to Candyman's spell?
Overall: Yet another film where after killing off the demon or monster from a prior film, they are automatically resurrected for a sequel. No indications as to why either. The reasons I objected to the setting from part 1 was the flashbacks scenes to Candyman's death are this time set in the south, further proving the writers screwed up big time in part 1. I say that it is easy to skip this film but do enjoy the radio announcer who acts as a narrator of sorts for he is very funny and interesting though.
