Blood Feast (1963)

- written April 2004

Fuad Ramses is a local businessman who just takes his Egyptian roots a bit too far. When asked to cater a birthday celebration he uses it as a chance to catch up on his virgin sacrifices. Only the local detective with a brain of Egyptian history will be able to solve this crime, but will his girlfriend survive or be consumed by the Goddess Ishtar?

Overall: This film was made as nothing more than a gore-fest with the hope of bringing in the bucks. It really just wanted to scare and horrify you and hope you dropped some cash off while doing that. The film has some really bad actors, a terrible story and well, more bad acting. The effects were pretty good, for the time-period and no doubt would have freaked me out, had I even been old enough to catch this originally. What is interesting is that given the title, you figured he’d have had the feast but by the end of the film the feast doesn’t actually occur. And the film is 67 minutes long but has 50 minutes of outtakes (where the nudity scenes were left). Gotta love the documentary on carving meat on the dvd. The documentary has virtually nothing to do with the film, outside of the fact both star one of the Korman brothers (with Harvey Korman from “the Carol Burnett Show” in the documentary). Oh and a few of the ladies in this film were Playboy Playmates including the daughter, Suzette. The others were frequent stars of the 60’s nudist films.
