Blade 3: Trinity (2004)

When the Vampire Nation hatches a plan to frame Blade in a series of brutal killings, he must join forces with the Night stalkers, a group of human vampire hunters. Their goal is to stop the lead female vampire, Danica Talos, from finding the legendary Dracula and using his blood to create a vampire army capable of taking over the world.

Overall: The film suffers from a few major problems. One of which was the casting of Parker Posey. She’s a very good indie actress who looks like she has a problem with her braces. She looks nothing like a vampire, hell not even a believable bad girl. She’s just not that good. Jessica Biel was capable as a heroine but Ryan Reynolds was way too comedic for such a serious film. Every joke he makes falls flat because it just doesn’t work. And I loved “Van Wilder.” The idea of Dracula and the 3rd film running for the idea of “human harvesting” just is so not unique or interesting. Basically I see this film as nothing more than trying to take people’s money from them. The first 2 films have some nice ideas and this film decides to just bring us back to a character that’s been done…oh, let’s say…100 times already? Nothing new here. Nothing original here. It’s a wanna-be super-hero movie that lost the seriousness and scariness of the first 2 films. The moment Biel puts on the MP3 player, is the moment the director and writers should have been fired. It’s cheesy. It’s silly. It’s stupid. And do these vampires die easier than in the prior films, or what? Blade has a tough time in the first 2 films, especially the 2nd film. This film, they die merely by touching them.

I watched the extended version, which frankly, gives us nothing too special than the theatrical. The alternate ending was brilliantly left out. That ending would have made worse what was already a bad 100 minute experience and would have hinted towards a 4th film.
