Summary:
An Alien creature gets free aboard a Predator spaceship nears Earth, causing it to crash in the woods near the town of Gunnison, Colorado. A Predator is dispatched to track the Alien and the ship down before the creature is loose and claiming victims throughout the town. However in relatively no time at all, the townspeople finds themselves in the midst of a a war zone as the 2 sides will kill everything around them in order to ensure the other creature’s extinction!
Overall: The film starts exactly where part 1 ended off. We see our alien friends killing the predators on the ship and it goes from there. I had been looking forward to this film for awhile and frankly we all know what happens when you build films up. You usually become disappointed. So in this case, I sorta did but I guess I had ideas on where the film should go and what it would do, and anything short of them wouldn’t live up it. But even with that, this was better than the first film. What would have made the film better would have been maybe more info on our creatures. I mean yes we had each franchise and sequels and even the first film here...but still, anyone who hasn’t seen those films would be lost here. Is it repetitive, sure maybe. But it makes it more concise. The film may be for fans but in a way you still want it to make sense. However even with all that, the film works because it doesn’t possess the major flaws the first one did. Also the problem with that film was the relative lack of fighting between our 2 combatants. This film is chock full of Alien/Predator battles which of course makes the film fun. It’s a relatively dark film but it still works here. And we even get a brief hint towards the “future” re: alien films. Comparison: Alien vs. Predator meets Day of the Dead (2008) |
