Summary: Freddy Kruger wants the children of his old daycare place to remember him and even in his death, he’s got an urge. And he won’t stop till he punishes the families of those responsible for his own death.
Overall: Well let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. We didn’t need a remake, a re-imagining, a re-whatever. Nothing was wrong with the very first film that required millions of dollars to go to these folks’ pockets instead of a homeless shelter or cancer research or victims of the various 2010 earthquakes. It wasn’t needed. The franchise was fine, no government bailout needed. But…it was made so we gotta just review it regardless. So…I generally liked it. I liked the bad guy…he was kinda scary, very deformed and burnt, some really nice acting there. I liked the basic plot and it seemed to generally follow the first film and did some “re-imagining” of the famous death scenes. Where I did appreciate the film was the lack of silly/stupid lines by our killer. Such as “How's this for a wet dream?” Ok, that one was actually used but outside of 1 or 2 more instances, it was some real life language usage and not the cheesy made-up ones. So I thought the characters were acting and talking as close to real life as they would. What turned me off of the millions of “Elm Street” sequels was that everything Freddy said was a cliché. Here they minimized those. And as I said, it was kinda scary, very moody and did a good job. Not a perfect job and certainly not better than the original film, but decent enough.
