A Nightmare on Elm St. 6:
Final Nightmare - Freddy’s Dead (1991)

Dr. Maggie is trying to get to the bottom of all of these deaths via dreams when she comes across a new patient who doesn’t know his identity. He brings her along his trip through the world of Freddy Kruger and soon she’ll learn that she’s a new chapter in his story and she has her own part to play.

Overall: Given the history of the prior films the film is an utter disgrace. The film starts adding Freddy’s past without concern for the fact that much of this would have been important in earlier films - reminds me of the crap “Scream 3” put out. Freddy has a daughter now...there is a remaining “Springfield” kid who hasn’t escaped yet either. Aaaaah...by part 5 all of the remaining kids were dead. Where did this one come from? If Freddy did have a kid and intended to use her, then why use the girl in part 5? This film basically ignore the prior few films and tries to pick up after part 3. The effects are pretty atrocious too. However what I am willing to give the film is that had this film fit in after part 3, it would have been pretty good. They do a lot on Freddy’s past, his motives, and his future. That would have made for good sequeling but where it is in the franchise as well as what the story does to the prior films is inexcusable. The addition of the celebs was pretty childish too. At least grab some decent celebs...Roseanne & Tom don’t count and sure didn’t in 1991. Alice cooper was a nit fit however. Turns out this very ending of having family vs. family was copied in Scream 3, Halloween 7 & Friday the 13th Part 9...and they all sucked too!

By the way, remember these? I feel old!

Comparison: Scream 3 meets Mario Bros.
