An American Werewolf in London (1981)

Two Americans are on a walking tour of England and are attacked by a werewolf. Although one is killed, the other survives but begins living a nightmare existence of bad dreams and worse hungers. Well, then he finds that he can see dead people who demand he commit suicide to save them from a worse existence between worlds. Clearly, he must do something before he turns into a monster permanently.
Overall: This probably had the greatest effects for it’s time and even now the effects are still awesome. The only flaw I have with the film is the same reason most people love it: the humor. I think this film would have been even better had it decided to stay scary and serious and the repeated visits by one of the students were eliminated. But still the film is a damn fine piece of work and regardless of what year you watch it, is still one of the all-time greats. Comparison: Howling meets Before Sunrise |
