- Alisa Robinson has appeared in many movies, including "Blood Scarab." Anyone looking for more info on Alisa or her films, can visit his at her IMDB page, her website www.alisarobinson.com and her myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/alisarobinson.
Q: Ms. Robinson, can you explain how you first got into the movie business?
A: I have been performing my whole life…acting, singing and dancing, but I started doing independent film in St Louis, MO right after college and fell in love with the entire film making process. I moved to Los Angeles in 2002 and the rest, as they say, is history. I have always been passionate about film and always knew this is what I wanted to do with my life.
Q: Would you please explain your acting role in "Blood Scarab".
A:The film is about Elizabeth Bathory, the infamous historical figure who was known to bathe in the blood of virgins to preserve her youth. I play her servant. I unwillingly collect blood from her dungeon victims while constantly worrying that I may become her next victim.
Q: Knowing how movie reviews may skew the perception of one's product, give us in your own words what you want people to know about the film.
A: It’s fun. Elizabeth Bathory is married to Dracula in the film….you gotta love that!
Q: If there were one part of the filming that was more difficult than you expected, what would that be? Getting a costume to work? Appearing in a certain scene? Certain lines?
A: Nothing was really difficult about the filming. However, it was a bit creepy because all my scenes were shot in this dungeon that felt very real—and made it really easy to get in character and be terrified. In one of the scenes, I get attacked by the dungeon guard and believe me the scream I make when he grabs me is completely authentic!
Q: Was there any one day, one moment where you just knew the film would work they way you thought it could?
A:
The film is by Don Glut and I always knew his fans would enjoy it.
Q: Looking back, I see that you’ve also appeared in other films”. Can you tell me a little about each film and your experience with it? First, “Mummy’s Kiss: 2nd Dynasty”? And did you see the first “Mummy’s Kiss” film before you appeared in the 2 sequels?
A: I have a very small role in “Mummy’s Kiss: 2nd Dynasty” as a museum hostess. Only one day of shooting, but lots of fun to shoot. And no, I had not seen the first “Mummy’s Kiss” film prior to doing the two sequels….I actually still haven’t. Oops!
Q: How about “Flash Click”?
A: “Flash Click” was shot on location in Big Bear, CA. It’s about three couples that go away for the weekend and unfortunately, it doesn’t turn out to be the fun filled weekend they had imagined! One by one, they start disappearing and it has something to do with a mysterious camera…
Q: How about “Revamped”?
A: “Revamped” is a fun vampire movie with a huge cast. Again I only had a tiny role and I die in it as I usually do in horror films.
Q: You’ve appeared in a few films, but have been involved in some stage plays, and music, correct? Can you tell us where we may have seen you in those various projects?
A: I have been in numerous plays and have been singing forever. There are many places you may have seen me on stage in Missouri, Los Angeles and now New York. I would love for everyone to check out my website www.alisarobinson.com for more details about me!
Q: If you could choose only one type of art (music, movies, stage, etc) to continue working on, what would you choose?
A: Definitely film if I had to choose just one, but I hope I am fortunate enough to keep doing a little bit of everything! Film is my favorite, but as long as I have a creative outlet, I am happy.
Q: What's next for you? What else does 2009 hold for you?
A: I have a few projects I am getting ready to work on, but don’t want to talk about yet for fear of jinxing them! I am superstitious about that. Once I start shooting, I will update my website, so again, I encourage everyone to go to www.alisarobinson.com for updates. I have also been spending a lot of time writing and hope to finish the film script I am working on sometime this summer.
Q: If you and I were to talk 1 year from today, what do you think would be on your plate at that time?
A: Working steadily in film and television roles that challenge me. Also, going into production on my film script.
Q: Is there any movie director or producer you really want to work for one day? Or perhaps any actors or actresses you’d like to star with in a film?
A: Definitely David Lynch. I am a HUGE fan. I love how I can watch a movie like “Mulholland Drive” over and over again and always catch something new that I hadn’t noticed previously. It’s like putting together a puzzle. I love films that are a bit twisted and bizarre and make you think.
Also, would love to work with Rob Zombie. Ever since I saw “House of 1,000 Corpses”, it has been one of my goals to someday work with him.
Q: Are there certain films you enjoy doing? What do you look for when picking films?
A: I love to play roles that challenge me. I am definitely drawn toward surrealism and I love films that leave you thinking about them days later.
Q: Anything you wish to add for my readers and visitors? Something special about you that they probably do not know?
A: Well, in horror films I always seem to play the victim and I would love it if someone would cast me as the killer or the bad guy for a change!
Q: Finally...this is an "Obscure Horror Movie" website. Can you name the last horror movie you watched either at the theatres or on dvd, etc? How about name a favorite horror film that you have seen that most people probably haven't seen?
A: I just watched “The Strangers”. I rented it recently and it really freaked me out. Probably because I watched it at night, all alone, in the dark. Big mistake!
And one that most people probably haven’t seen….Hysterical Psycho. I saw it recently at the Tribeca Film Festival. Most people probably haven’t seen it yet, but I think people soon will. It’s a horror/comedy and very entertaining.
Q: Thank you very much for doing this.
A:
My pleasure and thank you!
