Abbott & Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951)

The duo graduate from Detective school and are soon thrown in to a situation of trying to save a boxer, Tommy Nelson, from being arrested and charged with the murder of his manager. However to evade police, Tommy injects himself with an invisibility serum that his doctor friend has created. Soon the duo will need to trap the bad guys in a boxing ring using some of Tommy’s techniques and a bit of an invisible punch.

Overall: No, I’ve not gone soft and started including non-horror films. The title kind of implies “horror” and given the history of the plot of an “invisible man” in horror film history, I’ve gotta at least address this film. So in doing so, I will say how disappointed I was in the film. Given the ending to “Meet Frankenstein” there were high hopes and expectations but this story was just unfortunate. They could have really done something nice but this movie was really here just for the finale more than anything. I will say the effects were awesome for it’s time period. No question of this but I do think the boxer plot line was just not “up to snuff” given their previous films.
